Amon, The 1958 reference to the singularity by Stanislaw Ulam is published in Tribute to John von Neumann, Bulletin of the American Mathematical Society, vol 64, nr 3, part 2, May, 1958, p1-49. The quote is as follows:

One conversation centered on the ever accelerating progress of technology and changes in the mode of human life, which gives the appearance of approaching some essential singularity in the history of the race beyond which human affairs, as we know them, could not continue.

Hi Dave, I basically agree with all of your above points on a nuts and bolts level. The technology is around the corner and here, just needs to be applied , when Big Pharma catch on they will be behind it as a money maker, that’s ok too if they accelerate the process and as things get bigger in scale they often get less expensive. In vitro meat makes lots of sense to me, may be even healthier in what it provides as a possibly hormone and antibiotic free, fat controlled food.
